The Financial Accountant is responsible for posting inwards and outwards reinsurance, reconciling the GL and Underwriting system, providing technical analysis on underwriting results, researching accounting policies and providing recommendations in accordance with IFRS, preparing board materials, working with the premiums and claims team, preparing financial statements, assisting with annual statutory filings, and other duties as directed by the Financial Reporting Manager.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- A professional accounting designation (CA, CPA, ACCA or international equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years accounting experience at a re/insurer or audit firm
- Experience with any GL system; working with Oracle a distinct advantage
- Experience with technical reinsurance accounting practice and/or concepts is preferred
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment
- Aptitude to learn and grow within a leading reinsurance environment
- Highly numeric with proven track record of strong attention to detail
- Computer savvy with strong Excel skills and aptitude to learn formulas with ease
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Commitment to working extended hours as required to achieve business objectives
