Your Tasks
You are working on research questions in the project "Simpliciality in Arrangements and Matroids", a cooperation between the Universities of Bielefeld, Frankfurt, and Hannover and funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). One doctoral position is advertised at each of the three locations. The successful candidates will work on broad research topics in close cooperation with the other project members. The project is part of the priority program "Combinatorial Synergies" (SPP2458): https://combinatorial-synergies.de
You are actively involved in the priority program (e. g. by participating in and co-organizing events of the program) and interact with other projects.
Employment is conducive to scientific qualification.
Your Profile
We expect
- scientific academic degree (e. g. master's degree or equivalent) in mathematics or in a related relevant subject area
- expertise respectively motivation to gain in-depth knowledge in one of the following areas:
- geometric combinatorics, in particular arrangements, polytopes, and matroids
- algebraic combinatorics, in particular reflection groups, simplicial complexes, and Stanley-Reisner rings
- computer-aided exploration, in particular with mathematical software and AI technology
- good English language skills (oral and written)
- independent and dedicated style of work
- ability to cooperate and high communication skills
We offer
- salary according to Remuneration level 13 TV-L
- fixed-term (3 years) (§ 2 (1) sentence 1 of the WissZeitVG; in accordance with the provisions of the WissZeitVG and the Agreement on Satisfactory Conditions of Employment, the length of contract may differ in individual cases)
