Protein X-ray crystallography, spectroscopy and other biophysical methods determining protein structure and function. In situ characterisation of nutrient uptake, combining radioisotope uptake assays with flow cytometric cell sorting. Scientific research cruises to the Atlantic and Pacific. Supervision of undergraduate students, participated in public outreach events and presented my work at scientific conferences.

During my ERASMUS visit to Bergen University, I joined the Institute for Biology as summer project student. I conducted regular chlorophyll extractions and concentration measurements on water samples from a nearby fjord (Raunefjord) producing data feeding into a long-running survey. I acted as field-work assistant at the institutes biological station. I was responsible for oxygen measurements in water samples from a BIOPUMP mesocosm experiment obtaining data on community production and respiration.

I worked here as assistant laboratory technician and gained experience in Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry identifying pathogenic microorganisms in clinical samples. Additionally, I was responsible processing blood samples for over-night incubations.
