After my doctorate studies on biomass valorization I worked on building up a patent portfolio based on new high performing materials derived from industrial waste and wood biomass. Part of these projects were developed in partnership with industries, and part of them were focused on the foundation of a spin-off company focused on RemixWood®, a material that we registered as trademark and protected by international patents.

In the first year after my doctorate I was "planting the seeds" to make our inventions more solid and business focused. In particular, I adapted all my products for the existing markets, and I started the patenting process of our materials. At this stage I was still partially involved in academic research, and I had the chance to supervise Ph.D. students and technicians for projects related to biomass valorisation.

I left my hometown (Bologna, Italy) after getting my Master degree in Industrial Chemistry, and I accepted a Ph.D. position focused on biomass conversion into valuable chemicals and materials. My doctorate studies allowed me to learn a wide portfolio of equipment and techniques, as well as it developed my skills to develop projects by myself.
